A theatrical triumph, winner of 3 Olivier Awards including Best Musical Revival, Fiddler On The Roof is coming to Southend for one week only in what is set to be the theatre event of 2025.
Completely sold out at the Barbican in London, this is a rare opportunity to catch this critically acclaimed production direct from the West End.
From the powerhouse creative team directed by Jordan Fein (Oklahoma, Young Vic), choreographed by Julia Cheng (Cabaret), designed by Tom Scutt (Winner of the 2025 Olivier Award for Fiddler On The Roof).
Leading the cast in this spectacular production direct from its current summer season at London's Barbican Theatre is Matthew Woodyatt as Tevye, Jodie Jacobs as Golde and Olivier Award nominee Beverley Klein as Yente. Co-stars are Natasha Jules Bernard as Tzeitel, Georgia Bruce as Hodel, Hannah Bristow as Chava, Ashleigh Schuman as Shprintze and Georgia Dixon as Bielke.
It’s 1905 in the tiny village of Anatevka where Tevye, a Jewish milkman, lives his life by their proud traditions. For his five daughters, that means a visit from the matchmaker. As each daughter challenges his beliefs, against the backdrop of a changing world, can Tevye hold on to his roots, or must he bend to the will of his children and learn to embrace the unfamiliar?
One of the greatest musicals of all time featuring, If I Were A Rich Man, Tradition, Matchmaker and Sunrise, Sunset, this classic musical of joy and community is an exuberant celebration of love and life.
Only managed to see 1st 40 minutes due to rain
Absolutely Brilliant The best thing in London this year
Perfect! Completely perfect!
An amazing show. The production was also excellent as although the stage setting was minimal it didn’t detract from giving the message of the show. Very clever.
This was an excellent production, thoroughly enjoyed it.
Throughly enjoyed it.
We just had a wonderful time. The acting, the singing, the music and the story line were superb
The most brilliant production. Loved every minute!
The show was absolutely pronominal, the quality of the singing and dancing is superb. The story still so poignant today and “Do you love me” had me in tears. The one problem was finding our seats! It was dark and the rows are poorly indicated
Undoubtedly the best setting for a show in town. And what a show it is!! It's overwhelming in a brilliant way, words can't do it justice. Wrap up nice and warm, wear a hat and go to see it!!
I went to the 26th September 2024, 2.15pm show. After the 'matchmaker' , the show was cancelled due to heavy rain. The setting at the Open Air Theatre was simple, but well suited to the musical's context. However, there are limitations to the performance in such an old outdoor theatre. It's a shame that the show must be discontinued due to the British weather. It is a big disappointment that with the weather exchange which wouldn't give us the chance to see the musical again next season. The Regent Park should invest in building a large canopy for the audience and the stage, maintaining the outdoor features for unique requirements of particular musicals. Do hope the Fiddler on the Roof will be presented again next season to satisfy fans, especially elderly who find every single song so touching and familiar.
Brilliant, powerful and touching as ever. Love this musical and beautifully performed by all.
